About
The site chronicles the ongoing attempt to transform a fairly-average Florida yard into an edible landscape.
A Florida native, I have gardened for most of my life. I have grown herbs in Florida for over 25 years, along with some vegetables and fruit.
I have always incorporated plants that benefit butterflies and birds and this gradually led to incorporating more fruit and herbs. Now, increasingly impatient with store-bought produce that is overpriced and under-ripe, and grown who knows where, I decided to make use of my small space to grow as many edibles as possible.
In Florida we garden year round. By working with the natural conditions, instead of fighting them, the possibilities are astounding. Growing edibles equals growing independence.
